Great Expectations, Vol II, Ch. 17-19 [36-38]

Write for eight minutes or so in your in-class writing googledoc:
  1. “I tell this lightly, but it was no light thing to me”–Pip, p. 305 (Vol II, Ch. 19/38). Consider this description in light of Pip's entire story. In what ways does it describe Pip's habits as a storyteller? How might this shed light on the adult Pip who narrates Great Expectations?
  2. Estella tells Pip that she “deceived and entrap[s]…all of them but you” (p. 307; Ch. 19/38). How do you interpret this statement? Is it important to your perspective on Estella, and how (or why not)?
