Great Expectations, Volume III, Ch 4-11 [43-50]

Ten minutes in your googledoc file: 
  1. Look at Pip’s rare moment of direct address at the start of chapter 8 [47]: “Why did you who read this commit that not dissimilar inconsistency of your own, last year, last month, last week?” (p. 377).  First of all, what is he describing? What is he doing here, and how might you sum it up in one word or a brief phrase? Secondly, try to imagine a moment in your life that fits this description, and answer Pip’s “why” as best you can.
  2. Is Pip truly in love with Estella? Why do you think so? Or, if you think not, how would you describe his feelings for her?
